| Customer Reviews: The best text in the market on the topic. May 27, 2010 M. SHEIKH (Pakistan) I used this text for my MBA (Finance) and CMA preparation, and I found it full of extensive knowledge which not only train beginners but also add value to the knowledge of experts. I wholeheartedly admit that this (especially alternate edition) is comprehensive text covering common lexicon, mechanics of financial systems, background of theoretical concepts and mathematical modelings, risk analysis & measurement, and a lot more than that. I also bought another book Principles of Corporate Finance with S&P bind-in card by Myers and Brealey and didn't find any helpful as this one and Fundamentals of Corporate Finance Alternate Editionby Ross, Westerfield, and Jaffe.
Thank you very much.
Useless. pure waste of time. May 10, 2010 Avraham (linden NJ) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have had the misfortune of being forced into purchasing this G and also using the online material through NJIT Graduate program (MBA).
I am a long time Amazon customer, check my reviews. I do not think I have ever placed such a review on anything in my life.
- There is NO order - Formulas can be brought in examples and examples in middle of theory. a mess.
- There is No relevance. Moving from one subject to the other. no gradual information
- No methodology - mixing up methods, from excel, to formulas, to calculators to manual...
- The links - useless. They "give you" S&P "number" which is not real. no one to complain either.
Do yourself a favor and skip this one. Unfortunately it is too late for me, I have found out in the end of the semester what garbage I have been studying from. (the smart ones, unlike me, already skipped the "Text Book" in the beginning).
And in a final note, if you are in a college that suggests this book as a text book, PLEASE contact the professor and show her/him this message.
It is a pure shame that this pure mess of a book makes it into 9th edition print. the marvels of marketing...
They (MCH) "Bribe" the professors with online exams and homework on "Connect" - a primitive system as messy as the book, but saves to professors time since it can randomize questions for quizzes asn tests. guess what else is randomized - your education.
Don't take it ! and - you got to be INSANE to purchase this book. There are plenty of free websites with better info and far superior text books.
